Once your flight arrives in Hermosillo, hunters will walk to the gate and go through customs. Hunters with a gun permit will need to present it. If S.D.O. has your permit, there will Be a military soldier that will check your gun in at that time. To assist with any airline problems have your gun permit application WITH you.
Hunters should fly from the U.S. through Pheonix, AZ and then ONLY to Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, NOT Mexico City.
After hunters go through customs Jose Eduardo Davila or a S.D.O. employee will meet hunters outside the glass doors and take you to the ranch. If you have any flight problems or miss your flight you should take a taxi to the Royal Palace Hotel, 1/4 mi from airport, and contact Jose or Nancy. ( numbers will be provided)
Ranch accommodations are nice, clean, Mexican style houses with beds, baths, electricity and most have satellite tv. S.D.O. will provide sleeping bags.
Some mule deer hunting will be done from high rack vehicles but, hunters should prepare for spot and stalk hunting with moderate hiking difficulty. Quality boots and equipment equal to most western deer hunting is appropriate. 90% of Coues hunting is spot and stalk.
Hunters who bring their own rifles should bring .270- .338 caliber rifles with a good quality variable scope and be prepared to shoot 50-400 yards.
Hunters can take more than 1 deer during their hunt, extra Mule or Coues deer, Javelina, Bobcat and Mountain Lion are an additional per animal fee.
Hunting temperatures will range from morning lows in the 30’s to high between 60 and 80. Come prepared with layered clothing, hats, gloves and waterproof gear. Lots of quality socks and extra boots are a good idea. Good sunglasses are also suggested, if you wear prescription eyeglasses, a spare pair and or extra contact lenses are also advised.
Meals will be a mix of American and Mexican foods. We can accommodate any dietary needs or preferences with advance notice. Drinks such as bottled water, soda, juice and beer are provided.
After your hunt you will be returned to Hermosillo, if a hotel stay is needed it is the hunters responsibility. S.D.O. will handle U.S. Fish and Wildlife paperwork and packaging of your antlers and hides.
Tips are appreciated but not required. If you had a great hunt and feel the staff worked hard for you gratuities are appropriate. Guides +/- 10% of hunt cost, cook 100.00 per hunter, drivers 150.00-200.00 are customary.
